U.S. Youth Soccer Age Group Change (Beginning Fall 2026)
US Youth Soccer, along with US Club Soccer and American Youth Soccer Organization, announced that beginning with the 2026-2027 season, youth soccer age groups will shift from the calendar birth-year system (Jan 1 - Dec 31) to a seasonal or school-year system (Aug 1 - Jul 31).
The goal of this change is to align players more closely with their school classmates, which helps with social development and keeps teams more consistent with school grades.
What This Means for Players
•Age groups will now be determined using an August 1 - July 31 cutoff rather than January 1 - December 31.
•The change will apply to team formation and competitions beginning Fall 2026.
Policy at Cheyenne Soccer Club
To help minimize disruption during the transition, Cheyenne Soccer Club will allow flexibility for existing teams:
•Players already on an established team may "play up" and remain on their current team.
•This helps preserve the team cohesion and chemistry already developed.
•Players will have the option to try out for their current team or try out for their new age-appropriate team based on the updated age group structure.

ALL U11 and U12 teams will have set times for tryouts. Any other player NEW to STING (competitive) for the U13 and older teams will have a kick around to determine additional player invites.

Refund Policy
If you accept a position on a team there will be a $859 ($513 for U15-up Freshman boys/girls playing fall only) competitive registration fee, uniform costs, travel expenses and tournament fees.
Refund Policy- U11 - U15 based on full payment · $644 refund before Aug. 1st · $513 refund before second game - played in the fall · No refund after second game.
